I spent about 2 hours rendering this into a bigger resolution, only to resize it down anyway to put up here. :P I think it looks like a flower made of fire. It took quite a bit of mutation from the original fractal presented in a batch I brewed up to get to this...I'm not sure I even remember how I did it.

Apophysis + Border/Text in PSP7.

very cool i like it great job
Advanced critique, okay. I'm no fractal expert, so I'm approaching this from a purely aesthetic point of view.

I like the colours chosen. The magenta and gold are a good contrast, and the black backdrop and the way the luminosity of the strands changes give the impression of a photograph taken with an open shutter, capturing some hexagonal confetti with an exotic motion path. :-)

A very interesting facet of the picture is that the strands are not all mirrors of each other. Is there a formula for the trajectory for each strand, and if so, is this strictly deterministic, or are there elements of (pseudo-)randomness in this? Curious.

:P

Yes, the colors had to make the dimensions of the fractal stand out. I didn't notice that they're not all mirrors of eachother- I guess that's just the beauty of the program at work. You can check out the program at apophysis.org ...you'd probably get more out of it technically than I could ever hope.
